The job

A period semi where the owners wanted the whole approach done as one scheme — the front forecourt, the narrow side passage between the houses, and a patio round the back.

What we did

We stripped the front and side back to formation and dug out for a new build-up, laid and compacted a sub-base and screeded a sharp-sand bed, with edge restraints set and haunched in concrete throughout. Brindle blocks went down in herringbone with a charcoal soldier-course border across the front, a matching path ran down the side between the houses, and a bordered patio went in at the rear. Covers reset flush, joints sanded and vibrated, falls set away from the buildings.

The result

One brindle scheme tying front, side and back together — herringbone that takes the traffic, crisp charcoal borders, level covers and drainage that works. Off-street parking at the front where there wasn't any.
