Cookie Policy
What this site stores on your device, and why. It is a shorter list than you might expect.
Last updated
The short version: this site sets no cookies. The only thing we keep on your device is your answer to the banner, so that we don’t ask you twice. Analytics are optional, anonymous, and off until you say otherwise.
What cookies are, in plain English
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, and hands back to that website on every later visit. Used well, that is how a site remembers you are logged in or what is in your basket. Used badly, it is how advertisers follow you from one website to the next.
We do neither, because we have no need to. There is nothing to log in to here and we do not advertise to you.
What this site stores on your device
One thing, and it is not a cookie:
| Name | What it holds | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
vs.cookie-consent | Your answer to the cookie banner — accepted or declined — and the date you gave it. Stored in your browser’s local storage. | 12 months, then we ask again |
This one is strictly necessary: it exists only to honour a choice you made, which the rules treat as part of the service you asked for. It needs no consent of its own. Without it, the banner would greet you on every single page.
Nothing in it identifies you, and unlike a cookie it is never sent to our server — it stays in your browser, and only this website can read it.
The optional part: anonymous analytics
If you accept, we load Vercel Web Analytics. It tells us how many people visited, which pages they actually read, and which buttons get tapped. It reports counts, not people.
- It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
- It does not build a profile of you.
- It cannot follow you to other websites.
- We cannot tell who you are from it — no names, no email addresses, no way back to an individual.
We use it to answer dull but useful questions: is anyone reading the page about resin driveways, do people find the phone number, is the quote form worth its place. It is the difference between improving the site and guessing at it.
If you decline, the script is never loaded at all— not loaded and then ignored. No request is made and nothing is sent. You can check that in your browser’s network tab if you would like to.
Vercel is our website host. Their privacy notice covers what they do as a company.
What we don’t use
Worth listing, because most sites do use these and it is the reason cookie banners have such a bad name:
- No advertising, retargeting or “audience” cookies.
- No Google Analytics.
- No Meta, Facebook or TikTok pixel.
- No embedded YouTube videos or Google Maps — both routinely set third-party cookies before a visitor has agreed to anything.
- No social media share buttons that report back.
- No live chat widget.
Nothing on this website contacts a third party that is not named on this page or in our Privacy Policy.
Change your mind, any time
Declining costs you nothing — every page, the quote form and the phone links all work exactly the same either way.
Checking your current setting…
Your choice is saved on this device only, and applies straight away — there is nothing to reload. If you use another browser or another phone, you’ll be asked there too.
Clearing it yourself
The buttons above are the easy route. If you would rather do it at the browser level, every major browser can clear site data from its privacy or history settings — in Chrome and Edge it is under Privacy and security, in Safari under Settings then Privacy, and in Firefox under Cookies and Site Data.
Clearing site data removes your saved choice as well, so the banner will appear again on your next visit.
You can also block storage for this site entirely. The site still works, and we treat a browser that refuses to store the answer as a decline.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add something that stores data on your device — an embedded map, say — we will update this page and ask you again, even if you have already answered once. The answer you gave was to a different question, so it would not be fair to carry it over.
The date at the top of this page changes whenever the wording does.
